What is Shiplake Giving Day?

Over 30 hours during the 1 & 2 May 2025, Giving Day will unite the Shiplake community with a series of challenges, activities and events - both at the College and online for our overseas parents and Old Vikings.

Giving Day is extra special because the first £X in funds raised will be matched pound for pound by a generous donor, so every gift you make will be doubled! Your gifts and participation in house challenges throughout the 30 hours could also help unlock an extra £X for our Giving Day, but only these challenges are completed. You can view our challenge wall here. Overall we are aiming to inspire at least 100 members of our community to make a gift.

How do I get involved?

Spread the word! Ahead of Giving Day you can become a Giving Day Ambassador and help us spread the word through your network. You can find our ambassador toolkit here.

Join our whole school community challenge: Strive for 65! Whether you are a pupil, OV, staff member or current/former parent, we would love you to complete just 30 minutes of sport or physical activity during Giving Day to help us reach our goal of 65,000 minutes of sport. Come into the college for exercise/sports classes, matches and house challenges - or take part from home and send us your minutes to add to the total. If we hit 65,000 minutes a generous donor has pledged to gift X amount to the Giving Day fund.

Donate! Help build momentum by donating early or giving during the 30 hours of Shiplake Giving Day to double your impact and unlock extra funds.

What does Giving Day raise money for?

Giving Day 2025 will be raising funds for Transformational Bursaries and Hardship, as well as the new Sixth Form Centre set to open in September this year.

How will my donation make a difference?

Giving day is all about participation. Gifts of all sizes are important as with £X in match funding available (as well as additional Gift Aid), your gift will have over double the impact. Each donation also contributes to unlocking further funds from our challenge pots.

Is it secure to donate online?

Absolutely. Giving online is the quickest, easiest and safest way to donate to the College. Our payment processor, PayPal, is widely recognised and fully PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant. You can make one-off payments or set up regular giving (like a subscription) online through our main Giving Day Page. For gifts greater than £3,000 please get in touch with out Head of Community and Development, Natalie Spearing - nspearing@shiplake.org.uk.

What if I don't want to make a donation online?

That is fine. Every gift, no matter how it is made, will be counted. You can make a one-off payment through bank transfer by filling in the form here. You can also set up regular giving through a standing order by filling in the form here.

I'm not available on 1 and 2 May, can I give another time?

Of course! If you would like to make your donation before Giving Day, we are welcoming early donations that will still be matched pound for pound and contribute to the participation challenges. Simply head to our main Giving Day Page to make your gift.

Can I claim Gift Aid on my donation?

If you are a UK taxpayer and have paid as much Income Tax and/or Capital Gains tax as the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, we can reclaim the basic tax rate (25%) on your gift, with no extra cost to you. When you donate online or fill in the bank transfer donation form, you will be asked whether Gift Aid can be claimed on your donation.

How can I set up a regular payment?

Monthly, quarterly, or annual donations are particularly important in allowing us to plan for the future. You can set up regular giving online through our main Giving Day Page. These donations are taken via PayPal like a subscription where the first payment will be taken when you sign up and subsequent payments will be taken on the same day of each month, quarter or year.  You can also set up regular giving through a standing order by filling in the form here.
