Founders’ Day is a Shiplake tradition dating back to the College’s inception in 1959. This year, we are reimagining the day for the 21st Century to host a Giving Day on this date, the 1st & 2nd of May 2025.
Over 30 hours, we will unite the Shiplake community with a series of challenges, activities and events - both at the College and online for our overseas parents and Old Vikings.
Our aim is to inspire at least 100 members of the Shiplake community to make a gift of any size. Whether you are an Old Viking, a current or former parent, or a friend of the College, your contribution will play a vital role in expanding the number of bursary places we can offer and help us build the new Sixth Form Centre.
Thanks to the generosity of our match funding donors, every gift made on Giving Day will be doubled, and if you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid can be added. This means that a donation of £100 would become £225 with match funding and Gift Aid combined. Your participation will also help unlock even more funds by contributing to participation challenges throughout the day.
Will you help us reach our goal of 100 donors? Every gift tells a story, help us write the next chapter.
If you are interested in becoming a Giving Day Ambassador or would like to know more about matched funding or challenge funding, please contact Head of Community and Development, Natalie Spearing – nspearing@shiplake.org.uk. We would love you to spread the word - access our ambassador toolkit here.

Transformational Bursaries and Hardship
Your generous donation allows us to offer several students with talent and promise but limited means a chance to benefit from a Shiplake College education. Our aim is to grow this programme to 2 full bursaries in each year by 2030.
In addition, funds will continue to support current parents who are in need of additional financial assistance.
We believe in the power of bursaries and their ability to change lives - both of the recipient and those around them but also to enrich the school with broader diversity and inclusivity, fostering greater empathy and understanding of the wider world beyond the gates of Shiplake.

Site Development - Sixth Form Centre
Last year the Headmaster outlined the 5 Year Strategy for the College. This sets out the plans for development and preservation of the College site to ensure it is future-fit.
With rising costs and a challenging economic landscape, the Site Development and Preservation Fund aims to provide additional support to areas of this plan to speed up development and/or to maximise the impact of the spaces.
Our first project is the Sixth Form Centre which we are aiming to have open in September 2025. Funds raised will support this project and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
