The Shiplake First XI vs Old Viking Cricket match on Friday 21 June was a fantastic evening of cricket, with glorious weather setting the scene for an exciting match. It was a joy to see the return of the Old Vikings, as they reunited with their former teammates and relived their cricketing glory days. Captained by Ian Brown, the returning team included OV’s from the 1970’s to the most recent leavers from last year’s cohort.
The match itself was a closely fought contest, with both teams displaying excellent cricketing skills and sportsmanship. In the end, the Old Vikings emerged victorious winning by 28 runs! All players put on a great show for the spectators, showcasing their talent and passion for the game.
A celebration BBQ and drinks concluded the evening, accompanied by excellent stories and memories from our OV’s.
The Shiplake College Community looks forward to welcoming back the old Vikings for another exciting match next year. The event was a great success, bringing together past and present players in a celebration of cricket and friendship. Here's to many more years of this tradition, as the Old Vikings continue to make their mark on the cricketing world and the hearts of the Shiplake Community!
