The Shiplake College Primary and Prep Schools’ Cross-Country Competition

On a day with perfect running conditions, we welcomed 137 girls and boys from Years 1 to 6 to New Field to tackle runs of varying lengths. With buzzing support from all corners of the field, it made for a wonderful event and it was fantastic to see many familiar faces and also great to welcome new runners to the event!

The Headmaster, Mr Howe, along with Head Dog Simba, were waiting at the finish line to award gold, silver and bronze medals to the first three finishers of each race, while every participant was given a certificate with their position marked on the front. To add to the championship feel and atmosphere, the Shiplake podium returned on which the top three finishers stood upon to receive their medals and everyone's applause.

The Director of Sport, Mr Bradley, was on duty at the start line and we had many of our Sports Leadership pupils, as well as members of staff, on duty throughout the morning acting as marshals and recording results.

Thank you to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to ensure that the event ran smoothly. A special mention must also go to Year 12 pupils Louis Crerar, Henry Kerrison, Alfie Malcolm, and M O’Brien and who acted as hares and chasers to ensure that no one got lost along the way.
